Culture and sights
- Not far from the site, in the forest area of Ahlsburg is the ruin of the medieval Burg Grubenhagen.
- The castle keep is accessible and offers a great view of the Einbeck Basin.
- The castle in Rotenkirchen was once the summer retreat of the Hanoverian kings. In 1816, the Duke of Cambridge had the hunting lodge designed and rebuilt by Georg Ludwig Laves. After the connection between the Kingdom of Hanover and Great Britain ended in 1837, King Ernst August and later his son George V spent their summers here. In 1866, the royal family had to give up the castle. It was ceded as a domain.
Directly in the center of the village, in front of the Rotenkirchen domain, there is a Infopunkt.
A panel informs you about the historical treasures of Rotenkirchen as well as tour suggestions on the Ahlsburg ridge.
In addition to the information board there are 2 bicycle parking facilities as well as a seating area for resting.
