Kaiser-Friedrich-Turm (Altendorfer Berg)

Short facts

  • Einbeck

The Kaiser-Friedrich-Turm on the Altendorfer Berg offers a great view of the countryside.

The Kaiser-Friedrich-Turm is an over 120-year-old observation tower, which is slightly hidden in the Einbeck city forest on Altendorfer Berg. It is named after Emperor Friedrich, who reigned for just a few months in the Three Emperors' Year of 1888. Friedrich's birthday, October 18, 1900, was chosen for the inauguration of the tower.

The construction of the tower was initiated by the then mayor Grimsehl and the beautification association. They wanted to create a lookout tower with the best panoramic view over Einbeck and the surrounding area and started construction work in 1898. Thanks to many private donors and helpful companies, the project succeeded and the tower was completed.

In spring 2014the Kaiser-Friedrich-Turm Einbeck e.V. support association was founded. and is fundamentally concerned with the preservation of the tower.

The tower is currently not accessible, but is to be fundamentally renovated in the future in order to keep it attractive as a popularexcursion destination  in the natural and beautiful surroundings.
