The central cemetery Einbeck which has existed since 1908 has space for around 12,000 graves.
Row graves are allocated in order of time of death for the resting period of the deceased. There is no possibility of extending the resting period, reacquisition, excavation or reburial.
Elective gravesites, for their part, are also allocated in order, but offer the choice of individual location. Other special features of elective gravesites include the possibility of acquiring them before a death with a right of use of 40 years, the extension of the right of use through a required burial and re-acquisition after expiry.
The oldest grave at the Central Cemetery dates from 1907, but was probably only transferred to the Central Cemetery.
