The Leinepolder near Salzderhelden serves as a retention basin for winter floods of the Leine and its tributaries. It is a valuable breeding site for many rare birds and a refuge for migratory birds on their way from north to south. We describe an enjoyable tour (approx. 20 km) along the polder with the opportunity to observe many birds but also to take a leisurely break.
