The Schweizerei near Rotenkirchen is located in the middle of the forest and can be reached via a 4.88-kilometre circular route.
The building of the former Schweizerei is now used as the Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics. Nevertheless, its façade has been preserved.

It served the Vicereine and Duchess of Cambridge, Auguste Wilhelmine of Great Britain, Ireland and Hanover (*1797-† 1889) as a private retreat during her stays at her summer residence in Rotenkirchen.
