Weserrenaissance Schloss Hehlen

Short facts

  • Hehlen

The moated castle of Hehlen was built in 1579 and is considered one of the first castles in the Weser Renaissance style.

The castle remained in the possession of the von Schulenburg family until 1956 and has been owned by the owners of the "Machwitz Kaffee" company from Hanover since 1958.

The castle is located directly on the Weser and is surrounded by a moat. The square inner courtyard is surrounded by an almost unadorned four-winged building and two octagonal stair towers.
