  • Einbeck

Volksen,  an eastern Einbecker village about 5 km away, lies on the western bank of the Leine. .

Close to the Ilmemündung on the western bank of the Leine lies Volksen with 293 inhabitants (as of 02.01.2024). The village was first mentioned in writing in 1154 under the name "Volcwardeshusen".
National road 487 runs through the village, parallel to which runs the Europaradweg R1 and the Leine-Heide-Radweg.

Culture and sights 

  • The Marienkapelle in Volksen is one of the few preserved medieval village churches in southern Lower Saxony.
  • Since 2013, the former winter quarters of Circus Barum, in Braunschweiger Straße, has been owned by the Circus Charles Knie.
