Town Scales

Short facts

  • Einbeck

The Town Scales were a former calibration site of the town of Einbeck around 1565.

The building of the Town Scales was built in the middle of the 16th century right against the westward wall of the Old Town Hall in Einbeck and was decorated with ornamental carvings and crests. The name of the building was derived from its use as a calibration site.

On the round arch above the entrance you can find the crowned Einbeck E (to the right of the year 1565), the oldest tag of the town. To the left you will see the crest of the territorial lord showing the two lions of Braunschweig.
In 1884, the building was renovated and used as an extension of the Old Town Hall.
