The district of Holtensen is located approx. 6 km west of the town Einbeck.

Holtensen is a village on the Dieße river and the western part of the town of Einbeck, 6 km away. Holtensen has approx. 569 inhabitants (as of 02.01.2024). The municipality of Holtensen is located in the Ilm valley. Holtensen as a village is divided into the following two districts: Holtensen (main village) and Juliusmühle (local area). Holtensen is located on the Dieße and Juliusmühle on the Ilme. Holtensen was first mentioned in a document in 1264 as "Holdesse". 

Culture and sights: 

  • The chapel from 1594 is the oldest building in the village.
  • The Grillhütte in Holtensen can be booked for various celebrations 
  • The sports club SV Ilmetal e. V. has existed in the village since 1957.
  • Holtensen also has its own Karnevalsverein which has been around since 1981.
Tip: The circular cycle route "Brücken und Grenzen" and the cycle path Deutsche Einheit. Why not cycle through the village yourself and go on a bike tour.
