The district of Bartshausen is located approx. 5 km northwest of the town Einbeck.

Bartshausen is situated on a hill about 200 m above sea level and has about 129 inhabitants (as of 02.01.2024).Bartshausen is a village and northwestern district of the town of Einbeck in Lower Saxony, which is connected to the Bundesstraße 3 via the Kreisstraße 658 .
The village was first mentioned in documents in 1400 as "Barteldeshusen".
For the first time in 1439, a former watchtower on the land defense of the town of Einbeck(the Bartshäuser Tower)was mentioned. This land defense tower, which is still represented in the local coat of arms today, was only demolished in 1895. Until then, it marked the border between the Duchy of Brunswick and the Kingdom of Hanover.

Culture and sights

  • The chapel of the village (made of limestone with a fortified appearance) was first mentioned in 1439  and underwent three reconstruction phases in 1860, 1904 and 1956.
    However, it is said to have been built in the 12th or 13th century  
.
